ekey announces partnership with Crestron
26.07.2010
ekey has joined forces with the world's leading manufacturer of advanced control and automation systems - Crestron.
Offering integrated solutions to control audio, video, computer, IP and environmental systems, Crestron streamlines technology, improving the quality of life for people in corporate boardrooms, conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and in their homes.
When combined with a fully integrated Crestron environment, ekey finger scanners can now – in addition to controlling physical access – trigger specific actions or recall personalized ambience settings (room temperature, lighting intensity etc.) with one swipe of a finger.
The Crestron SIMPL Windows module “ekey net 4.x v1.0.umc” can be used to interact with an ekey net system. A second module called “ekey home v1.0.umc” can be used to integrate ekey home including ekey converter UDP into the Crestron environment. Both modules work via a UDP connection. They can be downloaded by Crestron’s authorized dealers from www.crestron.eu.
When a finger is swiped on the ekey finger scanner, a UDP packet is transmitted, containing information such as the user ID and scanner ID. This UDP packet is being captured within the Crestron program by means of the respective software module. Crestron's programming environment provides all the necessary capabilities to trigger actions throughout the entire building. For example, one finger can grant access to the front door while another can trigger a silent alarm, set a certain light scene or start playing your favourite music playlist. Multiple instances of the modules can be added to a program each representing an ekey scanner at up to 25 locations in the building/house.
Integrating ekey's finger scanners within a Crestron environment allows you to increase building automation functionality, convenience and security!
