What connects the ekey finger scanner to the smartphone?

Tuesday, 30. September 2014

The new ekey home app creates the best connection: The finger scanner is managed using a smartphone or tablet. This convenient solution is a world first in the field of finger scanner access solutions.

Smartphones have become a vital part of our everyday life and provide a multitude of practical functions in addition to the lifestyle features. And from now on, they will also be taking on an important task for the ekey finger scanner integra 2.0 BT. An app developed by ekey allows smartphones or tablets to communicate with the Bluetooth finger scanner.

ekey has always placed great value on making its products easy and intuitive to use. With the ekey home app, it has succeeded in making the operation of its solutions even more customer friendly. Users are created or deleted on the smartphone or tablet, rights for defined access can be assigned, relay switch times determined, and much more. Up to three relays (e.g., house door, garage door, alarm system) can be activated using a finger scanner. For each relay, a different finger is assigned to a different function, as if each finger were an individual key.

What's more, you can give your neighbors temporary access rights to your home while you are on vacation, for example. When you return these rights are not deleted, just deactivated. This means that they are immediately on hand to be activated again for your next vacation. Each access is logged in the finger scanner and provides the authorized smartphone or tablet with a quick overview. And for that personal touch, a picture can be assigned to each user.

An update function has been implemented into the ekey home app so that customers can participate in the further development of the ekey software. A new version can be downloaded from the ekey website and sent to the finger scanner, meaning that you can get back to the cutting-edge of technology quickly and easily.

In many situations, opening the door from a certain distance can be beneficial; for example, when unloading the car, for wheelchair users, doors with automatic opening technology, garage doors, etc. For these applications, the smartphone can be used as a "remote control": Simply launch the ekey home app, press the required button, and the door will open.

The ekey home app is available for free for iOS and Android devices. Try it out with the demo version, which also works without connecting a finger scanner.

This app solution is a major development that once again confirms ekey's reputation as the technology leader for fingerprint access solutions.
