ekey is new ForeSight partner

Combined strengths for intelligent building use

As a biometrics expert for fingerprint scanners, ekey has been a partner of ForeSight, a platform for intelligent and predictive smart living services, since the summer of 2021. The research project brings together the housing industry, technology providersassociations and science together, because together you achieve more.

Integrating multi-vendor, multi-trade smart living services into residential buildings in a secure, trusted and user-friendly way is ForeSight’s core approach. The research project and its cooperation partners focus on the vision of a digital ecosystem. For this purpose, ForeSight brings together the housing industry, technology providers for buildings as well as associations and science. In June 2021, ekey biometric systems also joined as an associated partner. The company contributes its expertise primarily in the areas of biometrics and fingerprint scanners for access solutions.

Driving developments forward:
The aim of the collaboration is to be able to offer smart living solutions across all industries in the future. “At ekey, we recognized the potential of biometric authentication as a simple and secure alternative to keys, codes and cards early on. Today, fingerprint scanners have become an integral part of smart living for many people. Our common goal is now to network building access via fingerprint with other applications, to create a link to smart home systems and to drive this development forward, because the intelligent use of a building starts at the door,” explains Dr. Leopold Gallner, ekey owner.

Cross-industry collaboration:
Through the view from the outside, the associated partners provide important impulses for the implementation of the project contents. “The technologies surrounding the topic of smart living do not have to be rewritten in the ForeSight project. Rather, it is about showing ways out of the silo thinking that is currently still prevalent and the advantages of fully networked and digital residential buildings. By integrating our associated partners, we are setting an example for cross-industry collaboration,” says Michael Schidlack, ForeSight Principal Researcher.
