ekey celebrates 20th company anniversary

From research project to family business in 20 years: ekey biometric systems celebrates its company anniversary in August 2022. Since its foundation in 2002, ekey has become the European market leader in the field of fingerprint scanners.

The Upper Austrian family-owned company ekey biometric systems is a leading manufacturer of biometric access solutions. The vision: keys, cards or codes were yesterday – the finger is always with you and becomes the door opener! Making this vision a reality is something ekey has been working on for 20 years now – and successfully so. Today, the products of Europe’s No. 1 in fingerprint scanners are exported from Linz to more than 70 countries worldwide. “Our products make daily life safer and more convenient. We provide practical benefits and want to anchor the ekey fingerprint as the starting point to the smart home. We still see many opportunities for innovation there, which we are tackling together as a company,” says company founder Leopold Gallner, who brought son Michael and daughter Raphaela onto the management board in 2020.

Tomorrow’s access already today
New product developments provide a breath of fresh air on the market: Smart functions complement the tried-and-tested advantages of keyless access with fingerprint scanners. With this, ekey is ushering in a new era of building access. Because with the ekey dLine, which was launched for the door industry in 2021, the intelligent use of a building begins with many smart features right at the front door: from remote opening and push messages to individual time slots, clear access log and smart home connection. Ongoing updates always ensure the latest software as well as additional functions. Moreover, the system can also be expanded to include users as well as devices – because the new products for the electrical industry as well as intercom manufacturers are already in the starting blocks at the biometrics expert in Linz!
